Synopsis: Tensions are high as Peter's appeal trial begins and Alicia defends a wealthy client in civil court whose innocence she doubts, even after he's found not guilty in criminal court of murdering his wife. Meanwhile, Diane decides to take precautions when a felon she successfully prosecuted is about to be released from prison, on THE GOOD WIFE, Tuesday Feb. 2 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Meryl Streep's daughter, Mamie Gummer ("John Adams") guest stars as bumbling prosecutor Nancy Crozier.

Julianna Margulies has already picked up two awards – a Golden Globe and a gong from the Screen Actors Guild – for her role in The Good Wife, which began last night on Channel 4. And rightly so: as Alicia Florrick, caught up in her politician husband's public scandal and left to pick up the pieces of her family and career, she gives a quiet, strong performance. But while the wife theme is the thread that pulls the series together, weekly episodes are less about Margulies being a good wife, and much more about her being a good lawyer. And doesn't everyone love a good lawyer? A good television lawyer, at any rate.

Margulies won the Screen Actors Guild Award for best actress in a TV drama series in Los Angeles Sunday night.
She won the prize for her work on "The Good Wife."
After thanking the show's writers and her co-stars, the actress gave a shout-out to her parents.

Sadly, The Good Wife airs yet another rerun next week.
But the CBS hit will return with new episodes eventually; or, specifically, on February 2.
On that date, the series will air "Bad," which focuses on a company client (guest star Dylan Baker) Alicia suspects is guilty. Also appearing on the installment:
- Meryl Streep's daughter, Mamie Gummer.
- A gun.
The latter item comes into play after a felon Diane helped to convict is released. Check out photos from this episode below.

Television star Julianna Marguiles has won the Golden Globe for her role in the show The Good Wife. Marguiles was best known for her role on the show 'ER'.
Marguiles is the co-star of the show as character Alicia Florrick. The story of the show revolves around the Florrick character returning to her law career after her husband is caught up in a cheating scandal. Her tv husband is played by actor Chris Noth.
Marguiles has been in several TV shows including The Sopranos.
